LASER AND LASER CONTROLLER PROJECTS

Laser Controller and Laser Redesign

In a cooperative redesign effort with Northrup CEO we repackaged a custom laboratory use laser controller to an aviation ready unit. Some of the requirements were a separate power supply and cabling, flow through packaging, laser diode current supply filter, removal of voltage oscillations, new startup logic to limit inrush currents, interface to embedded computer, and modbus to RS485.

These upgrades were accomplished along with removing 20 pounds of weight.

As part of the same redesign, we added a a telescope controller into the laser head. This eliminated the issues with trying to control a DC servo with long cables between the controller and motor/encoder.

The laser head went through a complete rebuild which included new pump diodes, new YAG rod, new doubling crystal and some component replacements. In addition a telescope controller eliminates the issues with trying to control a DC servo with long cables between the controller and motor/encoder.

Chillers

In a much lower technology area, but equally as important, we have extensive experience with laser chillers, both repairing and modifying existing systems. As an example, we added a new pressure switch, pump and filter to existing chillers. We have experience diagnosing chiller malfunctions thus saving expensive laser repairs or replacements.
